Interview of Baqari Toradze from Georgia after the Training Course "NEET to work" in Yerevan
Can you give us your opinion about the project "NEET to Work"?
The project is really unique and interesting for young people. It responds to the unemployment problem or NEET problem, which is an important issue. We need to work on NEET issues that definitely will decrease the unemployment rate in the future. It is great that in this project there are people from different countries, this makes the project even more interesting because you have the ability to meet new people and share ideas with them. overall the project was a great experience for me, I learned new things, came up with new solutions and met new people.
According to you, what support works best for young people at risk of becoming NEET?
Education level is the best. I believe that if a person has enough knowledge and confidence he/she won't become NEET. So the solution is to have a talk with young people and train them for jobs and education. Today people also have lack of motivation to study and work, it is necessary to give them the example from yourselves not by talking but doing real things, and it is only possible if you know enough to become an example, that is why I think that education is the best solution.
What is the most important thing you have learned during the training? How do you plan to share and use your knowledge?
I learned a lot from the training and the most important is the fact that the NEET problem is much more global than I expected and the strongest solution is to provide young people resources such as education, training, support, and etc. We need to start analyzing that the NEET problem won't be solved by itself but only with our effort to educate ourselves and others so everyone will be ready for such NEET situations. It is important to mention that being NEET isn't a shame but an opportunity to become better.
